It's always the same thing.

I love the cinema, and every aspect of it. But if theirs one thing I both hate and love it has to be the romantic comedy. Originally my biggest issue with it was it's always the same exact thing; boy meets girl, boy falls for girl, boy and girl have conflict, boy gets girl back, credits.
It doesn't really stray from that format, but more recently I have a new gripe with it, or better yet a theory. Now, in an age where couples are getting married and divorced at a disgusting rate, we are flooded with romantic comedies.
Think about it, there is a new one about every two weeks, why is that?
Is it that to cope with this alarming rate of divorces we like to indulge in the thought that everyone finds true love, and it's just a few laughs away?
Or is it that we like to see what we lack in our own lives? With so many relationships ending maybe these people want to go out and see what they thought they had found.
I'd like to see how the numbers correlate between the month with the most divorces and the ticket sales for romantic comedies, or the amount or romantic comedy dvd's are sold that month.
